This charming octagonal cup and saucer set features a delightful acorn design. Now an antiquated term, "chocolate cups" were a finery used throughout Europe in the 1700's specifically for drinking hot chocolate. Like teacups, chocolate cups come in a range of colors and styles.

Born on April 17, 1968, in Arita, Saga Prefecture.
1991 Withdrew from the Department of Painting at Tama Art University.
1994 Studied under the 14th-generation Kakiemon.
2010 First selected for the 45th Western Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
First selected for the 57th Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
2012 Became a member of the Arita Ceramic Art Association.
2013 (June 16) Appointed as the president of the Kakiemon Ceramic Technique Preservation Society, a designated Important Intangible Cultural Property holding group.
Became a full member of the Japan Kōgei Association.
Received the KAB Kumamoto Asahi Broadcasting Award at the 48th Western Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
2014 (February 4) Succeeded as the 15th-generation Sakaiida Kakiemon.
Became a member of the Saga Prefecture Ceramic Art Association.
Currently:
Executive member of the Japan Kōgei Association Western Branch.
Director of the Saga Prefecture Ceramic Art Association.
Vice President of the Arita Ceramic Art Association.
Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Art, Kyūshū Sangyō University.
